Richard was chairman of our local residents' association in Wimbledon, a role he enjoyed and did much to keep our area a pleasant place to live in. Whether visiting his lovely Victorian house for a committee meeting, or just visiting for a social, or joining one of his renowned Christmas gatherings, one was always assured of a warm greeting, arms flung wide in a welcome, and before too long, a glass of wine was on offer. We did miss Richard and Hilary when they moved away, and are now much saddened by the news of his passing away. We will always keep happy memories of a warm and friendly man.
