I loved Richard before I met him, because he made my dear friend Hilary so happy. Knowing Hilary, I was confident that I would find Richard a kind, intelligent and fascinating person who embraced life to the full, and I was right. What I didn't know until Hilary brought him to watch a fundraising concert I'd organised is how generous he was. We chatted and laughed over some wine after the concert, and had coffee together a few days later. I was completely taken aback by the donation he made subsequently (my coffee is good, but not THAT good!). Thank you, Richard, for living your life so fully, with such care for the concerns of others. I wish I had known you for longer. Antonia x
